From May 14–15, 2025, the BeSoGreat team proudly participated in CIRPLEX 2025 – the Circular Plastics Experience Summit – Alps Adria – held at Messe Klagenfurt. This unique event brought together key players from industry, research, and academia to exchange ideas and innovations for a more sustainable future in plastics.
At our booth, we showcased the BeSoGreat project’s innovative use of brewer’s spent grain – a by-product of the beer brewing process – as a biocomposite material for 3D printing and injection moulding. Visitors were impressed by the potential of this circular material solution, and we had the opportunity to engage in numerous insightful discussions with stakeholders from across Europe.
In addition to our exhibition presence, the BeSoGreat consortium used the occasion to convene its 3rd official Board Meeting. With all project partners gathered in one place, it was the perfect moment to reflect on recent progress and align on upcoming milestones.
Another highlight of the event was the workshop “Driving SME Sustainability and Circular Innovation: Strategies, Tools, and Advocacy for a Resilient Future,” hosted by the SYMBIO project. Sandra Schulnig (CUAS) and Manuela Facchin (CROSSING) contributed to the session with a presentation titled: “Spotlight on BeSoGreat: From Brewer’s Spent Grain to Innovative 3D Printing Material.” Their contribution emphasized the project’s alignment with circular economy principles and its potential impact on sustainable material development.
We would like to thank the organizers of CIRPLEX 2025 for creating such a vibrant platform for exchange and look forward to continuing the conversation around sustainable biocomposites and circular innovation!
